A quick ten minutes from the hotel and you are in the wooded hills below the Epynt. Here there are numerous walking and cycling trails including this pretty and gentle one. Following the river and then heading into the surrounding hills this can be extended to make it a longer ride should you wish. You can expect spectacular views and great wildlife.

Just 30 minutes from the hotel is one of the most exciting mountain bike rides around. Not for the faint hearted this exciting black run is 18 km, hard and fun. With big climbs and swooping drops this is a mountain bike ride that will test your skills and your courage. The setting are the stunning woodlands which are a mix of native broadleaf and evergreens, the steep sided slopes with streams roaring under you as fly past give a great atmosphere. Food is available in both the the Forest Arms in Brechfa and the Black Lion in Abergorlech have an excellent selection of food, The Shed a summer time open air cafe has great food and the community shop in Brechfa has a great variety of snacks.

This red run mountain ride is a lot of fun but it’s a hard one, just 30 minutes from the hotel and world renowned ride this is a must for anyone who is a mountain biker visiting the area. Set in gorgeous countryside with fabulous walks for a mixed group this is a great place to spend the day. The local pub, the Black Lion, does good food and has a lovely river side garden, alternatively there are many places to stop for a picnic – including the seasonal (summer only) The Shed Cafe which does drinks and snacks.

Just ten minutes from the hotel this red run mountain bike trail is full of the spills and thrills. Great fun it’s also in an incredibly spectacular spot with roaring waterfalls and ancient oak woodland, the hills around are covered in bilberry, heather and with the exposed rocks you really feel like you are in wild country. There are also lots of walks from the car park making this a great place for a mix of abilities and interests.
